Using this website

Everything on this website is free to use, with no account and no registration. You are welcome to use the chart, the symbol pages, the converters and the quiz for personal study, in a classroom, or while tutoring.

The content

The written explanations, the symbol pages and the audio recordings are the work of Florent Porrot and are protected by copyright. You may quote from them with attribution and a link. Please do not republish the recordings or the full text of a page elsewhere.

Zhuyin itself, the Chinese characters and the pronunciation standard are not anyone's property — they are the standard system maintained by Taiwan's Ministry of Education.

Accuracy

The linguistic content here is written and checked carefully, but no reference is perfect. The converters in particular make judgement calls about characters with more than one reading, and can get them wrong. Do not rely on this site as the sole source for anything consequential — a legal document, a tattoo, a child's name. Corrections are welcome by email.

The app

The Bopomofo Master app is distributed through the App Store and Google Play, and your use of it is also covered by their terms. Purchases, refunds and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple or Google — refund requests have to go through the store you bought from, not through us.

The Legend upgrade unlocks features described on the pricing page. Subscription terms, including renewal and cancellation, are set by the store you purchased through.

Availability

This is a site run by one person. It is offered as it is, with no guarantee of uptime, and features may change or be removed. If something important is going away, it will be said clearly rather than quietly dropped.
